Review on WEEKENDER Waterproof Jersey Mattress Protector - Queen Size, Quiet Barrier, White by Jessica Baker

A little insurance in Mattress Pads

My wife and I recently bought a new memory foam mattress. The top layer is filled with gel that dissipates heat and prevents overheating. We wanted a cover to protect our expensive new mattress, but it had to be thin so it wouldn't get between us and the gel. This protector is thin enough that we can read the imprint on the top of our mattress, but it should be a good barrier against accidental stains. I tested its water resistance by placing it on a bucket and squeezing it to form a pocket. Then I poured a cup of water and let it steep for about five minutes. Not a drop fell through. We've been sleeping on it for a week now and haven't noticed the rustling noises that some reviewers have mentioned. This may be due to the fact that our mattress is covered with a soft cotton fabric on top. Our old spiral mattress had a heavy plastic cover; and I wouldn't be surprised if this protector makes noise against such fabrics. When I took it out of the dryer there was a faint chemical smell, but once we lay in bed we didn't notice anything. I should note that we have no pets or health issues that would require additional protection. Also, we don't expect to wash the cover more than a few times a year. Depending on your circumstances, this cover may not be heavy or strong enough for you. But if you just need a little insurance for your expensive new mattress, this should help.
