These are great winter trousers and you can tell the designers have done their homework! The trousers have a wide cut so that base layers can also be worn underneath. There are Velcro straps at the waist that tighten the belt a bit. My 4 year old wears pants from 4t to 5t and size xxs fits him well but is not too big. The leg ends are reinforced so the pants won't rip there when stretched a little, and the pants have a Columbia Outgrown feature that allows the legs to be stretched as the child grows.
