Works with 2018 Mac Mini

I upgraded the memory of my 2018 Mac Mini with this product last night. Everything went well (although it was unnecessarily complicated and delicate), but the system didn't post. While disassembling the system to fix the problem, my spatula must have slipped under the fan base and broke off most of the base. Five of the six pins were still there. I tried to bend the sixth pin but it fell out as soon as I touched it. I was able to boot the system with the original 8GB so I replaced the 32GB and now it boots. SO-DIMMs are shielded against EMI and have rubber bumpers to prevent shorts to the shield. The rubber bumpers are difficult to attach and the SO-DIMM holding arms are very delicate; If you blow them wrong, the SO-DIMM will pop out. I suspect the initial failure was caused by one of the SO-DIMMs being released when I attached either the rubber bumpers or the EMI shield. Do not fully assemble the Mac mini until you have verified that your system will boot after installing the motherboard into the case and connecting the power supply. My Mac Mini has been running stable since the update. Although I've lost nearly half the fan socket and a pin, the fan cable still sits securely and system performance drops off under controlled loads, just like the intact 2018 Mac minis documented online. Disconnect the fan cable, I later found out that ifixit recommends gently pulling the cable straight up without tools. I wish I could see it beforehand. Don't use the plastic spatula unnecessarily on any of the cords, and if you do, make sure it's not near an electrical outlet. Here is the toolkit I used and recommended: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GWS5G3R /ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
