I use this to attach a cell phone adapter to a boom mic stand. This means that this adapter is horizontal and most of the mass is about 4 inches from the ball joint of this adapter which creates quite a bit of torque on that set screw. It lasts for weeks without even a slight slip. However, if I create torque by twisting the phone adapter to one side, the entire adapter will rotate where it bolts to the mic stand, unless you use thread sealant or teflon tape, even with the mic's star lock ring. Where it screws onto a mic stand it is not self-locking (e.g. via a set screw or threaded nylon inserts). I used screw lock and now the mic stand shaft rotates in front of this thing. It would be interesting to see if I can even do that. On the other hand, to prevent the microphone stand from tipping over due to such a heavy weight, a completely different range of products was required. But this adapter works extremely efficiently. Spring. The ball lock resists any movement very well. Where it screws onto the mic stand, it will not withstand any loosening torque, even with the star-shaped locking ring on the mic stand tight, without thread sealant or Teflon tape. I have no doubt it will carry the weight easily and will be buying more for other projects. It's cheap, efficient, and easy to customize. For the manufacturer, a threaded screw or threaded nylon inserts would be a welcome addition to this product to allow it to withstand the torque where it attaches to the mic stand.
