I bought the silver version because I have the silver X-E2 that came with it. In all honesty, it looks a little cheap, especially the focus adjustment ring. So if you don't have a silver camera, I don't recommend the silver version. In terms of price, the silver version is $60 cheaper than the black (as of this writing) for a brand new lens... used ones are even cheaper. I don't know if the build quality of the black version is better or not. a plastic lens instead of a metal lens, and no metal mount either, but that makes this lens lightweight, and I personally bought a mirrorless camera to avoid bulkiness and weight. So I better not complain about the plastic aspect. No aperture ring. I miss that. I wish this lens had an aperture ring. Perhaps the omission of the membrane ring helped to save costs. At first I often accidentally tried to adjust the aperture in the lens by turning the non-existent aperture ring! Now I'm used to it What I liked most Reasonable price Light weight - 15.35 ounces with lens hood and front lens cap Decent image quality Good optical stabilization Inner focus What I didn't like Slow autofocus and low light hunting Cheap looks - silver finish
