I have heated my coffee in the microwave for years because it always gets cold before I can finish it. Now with this on my desk I have a hot cup of coffee no matter how slowly I drink it. Overall, I'd say buying one of these devices saves me money considering the amount of iced coffee I've poured down the drain over the years. There is only one button on the heater to turn it on and off and I didn't see anything for temperature control. The temperature it stays at is hot enough for my coffee. I accidentally touched the surface while it was on and yes it was hot enough, I withdrew my hand very quickly! The backlight makes this item look very pretty on my desk. Husband and children all praised. I would definitely recommend it as a gift to any coffee or tea drinker. I've only used my ceramic mugs on it, and it's probably not recommended for metal travel mugs or anything like that. It seems to heat up and cool down in a reasonable amount of time.
