Incredible radio for the price

It's not often that I order something and feel like I'm getting more than I paid for, but this is definitely one of those cases. Although this Kaito brand radio is very small, it has many features that you will not find in radios that are much more expensive. At first I wasn't too thrilled when I received it simply because it turned out to be a lot smaller than I imagined. It's not much bigger than my phone (though a bit thicker) and weighs a little more than a phone. The controls are pretty cheap, but they do the job. The hand crank is very light but definitely more than adequate for emergencies. I had no problem picking up my local NOAA, AM and FM stations. The shortwave receiver isn't very powerful, but it's worth noting that it's included even for under $20. As a rule, you will only receive shortwave reception on a certain band with this radio at night. The low frequencies in these bands make it virtually useless for daytime shortwave listening unless you are within 100 miles of the station. In the evenings, programs can be received from various channels such as the BBC World Service. The tuning knob on the radio is far from accurate. However, this is enough to tune into the AM, FM and NOAA bands without much effort. The audio output is adequate unless used in an environment with a lot of background noise. All in all, it's the perfect little device for emergencies or to take with you in the car if you're stuck somewhere. As long as you remember how cheap this product is, you cannot be disappointed.
