Hopkins Customer Service reports that this product fits standard 1 liter oil containers. Not sure what qualifies as a standard oil reservoir, but definitely not for a 1 liter Mobil 1 reservoir. It wasn't even close.
Perfect for adding oil to my plane. Funnels are too big. It is small and can be stowed on the plane for traveling. Some say it's too hard. Well, that is until you use it once. The oil lubricates the valve and works GREAT!
Other reviews noted the valve was difficult to turn. That was true for me until the first time I used it. Then there were no problems with his move. When opening, the connection of the oil bottle is tightened, so there is no risk of accidents. When I closed it I kept the connection with the bottle. Putting the oil bottle in was no problem. I liked it so much that I bought a second one to replace one from a different manufacturer.
I bought this FloTool to replace the exact same one that came with my plane when I bought it from the previous owner. The one that came with my plane had an L-shaped tear down the center of the barrel. I assumed this was due to frequent use by the previous owners. Worked great except for the crack. So I ordered a replacement and left it in the hold of the plane in case I needed it while traveling. Literally six months later, the same crack appeared on the new one, of the same size and shapeโฆ
Have been using these spouts for 30-40 years, always intrigued by the innovative and very useful idea of a reversible oil collector. I lost my old one so I just bought a new one. Really seriously?!? How could FloTool show such lazy incompetence? Hey FloTool Manager, YOUR SALES ARE BAD when you work withโฆ
Other reviews range from perfect to rubbish. I suspect it's due to multiple molds with varying degrees of wear or a complete failure of quality control. Mine is practically useless. It takes a lot of force to turn it and I'm pretty sure it only partially opens when stationary. The bottom end could be pinched tight enough when on top of an oil bottle, preventing a few fingers from reaching the knurled part. If even a drop of oil got on it from the outside, King Kong wouldn't be able to move theโฆ
Other reviews are correct they are very difficult to turn. However, I sprayed some lube on them and now they spin fine. They are still a little stiff, but will loosen up over time. I wonder if they would come loose after engine oil leaked through them. I think it's better for them to be too tight than too loose. Also, a funnel I ordered was not properly assembled. I had to take it apart (by screwing it onto the oil bottle and pulling firmly on the hose). I snapped it in correctly and now itโฆ
