Review on Handlebar Harley Touring Sportster Softail by Adam Gardner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Required Modification Honda Shadow

I bought this part knowing it might not fit because Revain's part finder didn't say it would fit my bike. When I received these knobs I heard about all the other reviews and immediately took them apart and used blue Loctite and all thread finishes. When I assembled it, the clamshell didn't match the throttle tube. Since I really like the feel and look of the grips I decided I wasn't done with them. The area that the clam shell holds onto the stock choke tube was 1.15 inches wide as measured with a caliper. It was about 1.3. So I did what anyone would do with a strong toy and I threw it on the lathe, turned it between centers and cut it to size. So if you drive a 1990's Honda Shadow they won't fit if you have access to a lathe and some free time to get it working. I know they might not be a good start, so I still think they deserve a decent review. But the fact that there is a design flaw, as Harley shells still work with a 1.15 piece part in the area the clamshell connects to, they miss an opportunity for us Japanese cruisers to use this fine product can, and because which is why I'm deducting a star.
