I had no idea about the possibility of the update. Came in the original box, everything is very well packed. If I didn't know I bought a refurbished one I wouldn't have a clue. Overall it was easy to set up. The wireless subwoofer and rear speakers are fantastic. The controller is a little lackluster and the instructions aren't very detailed. Although it wasn't that hard to get everything working. 5.1 is pretty good for the size of the speaker, and the ambience is pretty decent for basically a soundbar. I have a smaller room so that might help. In a larger room, you probably won't have as good an experience as I did. Overall I am very happy with this purchase for my needs. I'd blow my eardrums if I bought a standalone receiver and speaker (plus a nightmare of wiring it up and trying to keep it clean). I highly recommend
