They were mounted on a lightweight composite board end table. I saw that the screws needed to align with the threaded sides of the brackets and my original drilled holes matched the friction screws and it didn't work because the screws didn't align well with the threaded sides. I drilled the holes with a bit larger than the screws and it worked because I was able to line each up properly with the threads.
