Stretcher piece doesn’t fit

At first I thought this was a great item, very easy to assemble. Then I tried to attach the stretcher, which looks like it is important for the strength and stability of the chair. I was sure I was doing something wrong, but couldn’t figure out why, so I put the pieces back in the box and waited a few weeks until I felt a little better health-wise. Today I pulled it out to see what was up, and found that the holes in the stretcher and legs do NOT line up when the seat is in place. It looks like the seat protrudes down more than a quarter inch lower than it should at the front right above the holes in the legs, so it makes it impossible to actually assemble it the rest of the way.I tried to contact the sellers (Ebay Warehouse?), but the link took me to the manufacturer’s website, which said that they never sell to individuals, so we must contact the dealer for any questions. The only option on the Ebay website anymore is to return the item; this is too bad, since Ebay used to have good customer service. I like the chair other than the fact that i can’t complete assembly as it is now. Is there another option?
