I wear an XL helmet and have had many helmets over the years and XL is my size. I bought size XL in this helmet (that's my size according to their measurement guide) and when I closed the chin piece of the helmet it was too tight on my face. I upgraded the inner pads to XXL and that didn't help much. I've used this helmet on trips up to 500 miles and had face and jaw pain for days afterwards. I finally bought the XXL which is much better. So going up a size might be the right decision if you have a big head like me. The noise level inside the helmet is average (not quiet and not loud). We've had a very warm summer in north Idaho and every time the sun comes out and the temperature is 33 degrees or more I sweat profusely in this helmet. For very hot days, the airflow does not seem to be sufficient. I think Gemet is worth $300 but no more. It's heavy, only DOT-approved (which isn't a good standard these days), but it offers some nice features that make it worth using.
