I've worn them here in central Maine during wintry snowstorms with temperatures as low as -5 and WCF as low as -15 this season, and my hands have been warm again while I've been active enough. My hands still get cold when it's quiet outside, but they don't. They're bulky, and you certainly can't do anything that requires a lot of manual dexterity or fine motor skills, but they're good for shoveling snow, blowing snow, or driving to work on a cold winter morning. Zippers, buttons, etc. are difficult to open.
