No chipset used - more details below. I bought it in 2013 and couldn't get it to allow communication between a late 2007 MacBook running OS x 10.6 and Parallax Basic Stamp 2. I used the programming app from the Parallax website on a Mac. Yes, it's an outdated Mac, but I was hoping to repurpose it as a brewery controller and datalogger headend. The Mac app is said to require an adapter with an FTDI chipset, and according to recent findings from the Q&A, this app has something else - supposedly the TI chipset in the Q&A. Downgraded because the chipset used is not listed in the description. and Tripp Lite's response to a specific question (unfortunately after my purchase) in the chipset Q&A was "Contact Us". This indicates poor customer service.
