
As others have said this is probably powered by a stepper motor. It would be preferable if it was a frequency drive for a belt driven three phase motor, you would have a smoother motion. Anyway, it's not an idiot or anything like that. You just won't see 100% smooth movement. It has a fairly large loading capacity, but it's not that big (just under a foot) so I don't see myself loading more than 200 pounds on it. Don't put anything in here that can wobble or wobble and you'll be fine. Best for hard, fairly immobile objects. Definitely recommend, just make sure you're not looking for "lab-grade smoothness".
