We placed them on painted wooden stairs leading down to the basement. The original look was perfect! However, it was the only thing that was perfect. They didn't hold up well on the stairs. Slips easily when stepped on, which may cause some guests to slip. We ended up putting small nails around the edges to prevent slipping. There isn't as much adhesive on the back as expected based on the description but expected a better fit on the stairs. We've cleaned them with a cordless vacuum with no problem, but as they're nailed down we can't try to throw them in the wash as advertised. In general, just a normal product. Next time I will consider a different brand. Follow-up: 3 weeks of use and edge lift. There is not much traffic on these stairs, but unfortunately we do not have a return window. Next time I'll look elsewhere
