Review on Pyle PLPW8D 8in Car Subwoofer - Powerful 800W Audio Speaker for Enhanced Vehicle Stereo Sound System by Mike Pfettscher

I actually bought this to replace the subwoofer speaker in my OG Klipsch Promedia 2.1. The original Klipsch sub woofer showed its age in the way the cone material has deteriorated. Not bad for a sound system that has been in daily use since the early 2000s! After some research I decided to try this system. I have a new amp that is more powerful than the stock Klipsch internal amp, so I wanted something that could definitely handle it. Installing a subwoofer is as easy as installing any other speaker: 1. Remove the old and broken speaker.2. install a new one.3. Solder the wires to the connectors.4. connect everything and let it rip! For a sub of this size, I'd say it's a real pound! When it comes to bass management, it leaves nothing to be desired. In fact, I'm now considering putting a custom backplate on top of the extra box because it's trying to force air out of each slot on the back, causing a whistling noise on impact. This is not due to the product itself, but to my poor quality. If I had taken care to reseal the box properly after modifying it to work with my amp, this would not be a problem. The Klipsch box fits almost perfectly: the only caveat I can offer is that the speaker grille backing isn't going to come through without some work. Unlike the unit everyone sends in as a direct replacement, this unit doesn't provide the tight fit needed to simply snap the grille into place. This is not a problem for me as I keep the device away from anything that might hit it. But for someone doing the same, it could be a deal breaker. Overall I am still satisfied with the product itself. Maybe one day I'll give him my own box, done right this time, and see what it's really capable of. I'm already very happy with what I have.
