Short and simple. The Peltier 12710 also worked perfectly at an output power slightly above the rated 154W. Now I'm using it for scientific testing, I connected it to a regulated LAB power supply and monitored its response at different power levels (from 3 to 12V). At 3V it can be used without a heatsink and you can easily find the cold side as the hot side reaches about 100 degrees (f) which is well below the tjmax temperature. Also, I noticed that the side with the model number printed on it is the cold side - I ordered 2 and they are the same on both. Is it freezing? Oh yeah! I will post some pictures. I can have a freezing temperature in 10 seconds. Drops of water freeze in a matter of seconds at this point (which is nice to see!). I highly recommend them for science classes as they are inexpensive, very safe and teach a lot. The hot side gets really hot (no scolding, although only around 150(f) with a heatsink). I used a TigerDirect dedicated PC heatsink (the $15 model worked fine, but the free AMD FX heatsink worked even better). With a good heat sink, it just heats up, doesn't heat up. I also installed the radiator on the cold side, and the condensation in the air accumulates very, very quickly. In the end my lab power was maxed out and I used a dedicated 400W PC PSU and a 12V high amperage CPU/motherboard power connector and it worked great. I originally planned to use Peltier elements for my two GTX 670 SLi graphics cards. cards to cool them down. I've thoroughly tested this Peltier element on older graphics cards to see how they respond to fail-safe hardware, and to be honest they've accumulated so much condensation that water starts dripping off the GPU when the computer is off (I'm alive in Florida, so that's not the case, no problem). will help). So not good. But now I enjoy maximizing efficiency as much as possible by testing different cooling methods. If you're still interested in using this on your CPU, just be aware that the thickness of the Peltier element (around 5mm) might be too big for your CPU, so keep that in mind. The product arrived on time, well packaged and of high quality in my opinion. Without damage.
