I bought this to replace the ballast door on my 2006 Calabria ProV2 boat. It was a direct replacement, although some of the wiring was slightly different. To use it, I was able to open the plastic case on both the new and the old device. And I decided I didn't need white or yellow wires on the new gates (the old ones only had two wires). I first cut off the bullet connector from the main wiring harness on the new gate, then cut off the white and yellow wires on the inside and plugged them into the housing. When everything was done I was left with just two wires sticking out of the case. I then cut the wires leading to the old gate, undid the three screws holding it in place and removed it entirely. I gently connected the two old wires to the new wires from the new gate and plugged in the battery to test. I found that they were upside down so I swapped them out and then crimped them to ensure a strong connection. Checked. I was able to reuse all the old mounts. Tip: Transfer all brackets to the new gate, then remove the nut on one side only. The entire assembly should slide over the existing valve gate so you can install it and then tighten and connect the remaining hardware. A NOTICE. I didn't use any aspect of the push button rocker switch. Or is it the wiring, including the fuse. This is because my boat already has a ballast fuse installed in the fuse box under the driver's helm. It took me about an hour to make the first backup. The next one (I'm changing tomorrow) shouldn't be for another 30 minutes or so.
