While many reviews do have issues with the unit, for the price it works very well. The dripper is hard to come by, the stack isn't the sturdiest: the top is filled with ice and water, and the bottom is empty. I've brewed three times in the last week because I'm trying not to drink so much delicious coffee. After thoroughly "blooming" (moistening) the coffee, place it on top of the coffee before it starts to drip. As a result, the drops are distributed more evenly in the coffee. I didn't try it without it. My first cup was disappointing too, but then I realized I had to stir the brewed coffee before pouring it. I've always left it overnight (over 8 hours) so I've reduced the dripping to once every two seconds. Much luck! The only negative is 50g of coffee _a lot_. Another reason I drink it slowly.
