I just installed it so can't comment on durability. but I can tell you: I was looking for a 10x lamp that would look good in my bathroom, not be made of plastic and have a certain weight. All the reviews of all the lights seemed disappointing so I decided to take a chance with this 5x light which has a separate 10x mirror that attaches with a magnet. other lights have been, love the HEIGHT of this light - which means I don't have to mount it on a stack of boxes to use it! I love how BRIGHT the light is - I can see each hair as I tweak it and of course it helps with makeup application. I like the weight of this mirror - it's not plastic and doesn't feel cheap. I like the way it LOOKS. As mentioned, this is a good alternative to Simple Human, but much cheaper. The bottom is non-slip. The whole bottom, not just the edge. Take it from someone who's been looking for a well-lit vanity mirror for too long - this is what you need unless you need dimming or warm light.
