Too big for 14/2 plus grounded UF wire

Written by my husband. As others have pointed out, after shrinking, the heat shrink becomes too large. Here are some of the features that should have been included in the product description. The diameter of the brass terminal block is approximately 23 mm (15/16"). The inner diameter of the pre-shrunk heat shrink tubing is approximately 34 mm (1 and 15/16"). The inside diameter after shrinking is approximately 9mm (3/8 inch). The 14/2 UF cable is rectangular and measures approximately 5/16" x 3/16". Thus, after shrinking, the size is just too large to make a watertight seal on a UF 14/2 cable. What I did was buy another heat shrink tube and put it on top of the UF cable first. This tube was: http://www.amazon. com/gp/product/B007Z3ZEJW, which has a 3/4" ID before shrinking and a 2/16" ID after shrinking, but increases the wall thickness to 2/16" when shrinking. For a 14/2 UF cable, therefore, when this tube is squeezed, the 14/2 had an approximate outside diameter of just over 1/2 inch. If you do this, make sure the tube of this kit (large tube) overlaps the smaller tube by a few inches, but does not completely cover the smaller tube (a few inches of the smaller tube should still be visible).

Pros
  • High score for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
