You need to figure out why your AC isn't blowing cold. That's how I shot mine. First, start the car and crank the AC up to full blast (and I'm assuming the fan is running in the car, it's just blowing warm air), open the hood and look at the AC pulley on the compressor if If it doesn't turn low, the AC Freon relay is faulty, the pressure switch is faulty, or your compressor is faulty. First open the fuse box under the hood, remove the AC relay and swap it with the starter relay, they are usually the same. If that doesn't help, get a jumper wire and short pins 87 and 30. If you hear a click and see the compressor pulley engage/rotate your relay is good and so is your compressor. During the jumper (don't leave the jumper for more than a minute or two) feel whether the air in the car is cold, if it's cold the freon is fine, if not, the level is low and needs charging one pot. by Oreilis. I had two low freon problems which I think were leaking because the Schrader valve stem seal was bad on the high pressure side, it leaked as soon as I removed the plastic cap (easy fix, you just need a tool and a new valve stem). Ok, after changing the valve stem, I filled the system with freon. They do it on the low side. Check out some YouTube videos. It's fairly easy to refill, as a full glass gives a guide to the amount needed). Well after I charged it the compressor still wouldn't turn on by itself so I jumped pins 87 and 30 again and the A/C blew freezing cold! So my next step was to remove the pressure switch leads (one high and one low pressure switch each) and I shorted them out with a paper clip and sure enough the compressor slammed when I bypassed the low side and blew cold. . So I bought this part and removed the old one and this one in 5 minutes and it works great! I hope this post helps someone with their air conditioning and helps avoid a large mechanical bill. The whole thing cost me less than $100, including a new fan assembly (mine had a lot of junk and stink so I replaced it), so try it yourself and you'll be amazed at how easy it is.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • It's ok
