They are very sensitive to noise, but one day we placed the receiver far from all the other electronics in our cockpit and connected it to the deck with a long microphone cable. the sound was acceptable. For the price they work great. We skipped the included in-ear headphones and bought mono headphones (who would want to use the earbuds that go in someone else's ear? There seemed to be a bit of hissing through the wall outlet, so we did). Tried a noise canceling surge protector and got rid of most of it Overall a good buy.
