I got it because it is the standard stuff for people who need to seal aquarium equipment in an aquarium. I opened the box and it reeked so much of plastic chemicals it was intrusive. My girlfriend is sensitive and allergic to some kind of plastic, she had to take a second allergy pill because the smell almost killed her! No joke! Lips swollen, eyes swollen, throat swollen. Nice. So I quickly put it outside on the porch to air it and threw away all the packaging because I wasn't sure what was compromising it (usually softer plastic). It still smelled the next day. So I tried washing it with natural, unscented soap. I scrubbed all the nooks and crannies with a brush, washed and dried, let air out. Checked after 3 days and it still smells like plastic chemicals. Pretty strong. The material was determined, not the packaging. I would never put that in my fish tank, you're crazy if you do! I can't even keep it at home it stinks so much. I'm sending it back and trying another brand, maybe not with cheap toxic chemicals. Don't know if it was a bad batch or just cheap but definitely not suitable for aquariums such a stench. Such a strong smell outdoors is bad, but it will probably leach a lot if I put it in water. No I'm fine! I won't even try
