I really liked about a simple tool, like a quality knife that's good for slicing, turning or turning steaks or chops, or even roasting vegetables. A few weeks ago I got the last of the local corn on the cob, so I cleaned it, brushed it with mayonnaise and smoked it with paprika. Then I roasted in an air oven; It gets too cold here at the end of the year for barbecuing. My teeth are no longer good enough to chew corn on the cob. That's why I cut the seeds after roasting. I got stuck several times trying to pierce the top of a corn cob. The center is often very difficult to get to, and these cheap corn holders aren't very good. On top of that, to cut the beans, I flatten the bottom of the cob so it rests steadily on a shallow bowl or plate that I'm grabbing the beans on. The small corn holder is designed to hold an ear on either side. and there is, but not enough to keep it up. A new thread support tool comes to the rescue. It's easy to thread the end and hold the corn in place while cutting the kernels. I don't even have to flatten the bottom of my ear completely; This is kept at an angle if needed while I do the trimming. I may have used this a few weeks ago while cooking up some chickens for a gourmet dinner with a friend. I only used poultry shears for this, but it would be better for trimming birds. I see this will work well in a number of applications. I buy steaks and pot roasts when beef is on sale, then I cut them up, wrap them in cling film and freeze them. For later cooking, the pot roast needs to be browned a little in hot oil and butter before being placed in the slow cooker. I had trouble using smaller tongs and forks to try and turn the meat. It can be difficult to hold it so that all the edges are browned. I have a pair of meat forks, a small one for the kitchen and a large long one for the BBQ grill, neither of which are up to the task. The little one is too weak to turn over and hold a four pound roast. The BBQ version is too long and unwieldy to simply use on a kitchen pan. The length is also a problem to control, I've either dropped it on the stove or in a pan and spattered myself with hot fat. This tool is the perfect size, length and thickness for piercing and checking roasts. Even when frozen, it's easy to pierce deep and roast for a slow cooker. Anyone who is slicing turkey for dinner can easily do so with this fork, whether slicing or serving. My parents always used an electric knife, but this fork would help control and guide a good quality butcher knife to slice this bird. In addition, the improved control makes it easier to prepare meat for sandwiches and other turkey dishes. The toughest fight this can give you an edge in is one of those pigs on the bones. They're bargain prices this time of year, heck, last year I bought one for about £15 for nine bucks. Although I screwed up the cold cuts. I struggled to control the ham as I sliced it open with my small kitchen fork. I ended up wasting a lot of ham leaving it on the bone. I boiled it for a day to make bone broth for ramen to bring out the flavor. I could then use this strong one to get cleaner bones. The handle gives good control, has a loop for hanging and keeps it handy. I hung it on the side of the fridge with a magnetic hook. I always have large items to hand. It's not cheap by any means, but its ease of use, practicality, and durability make it one of my first favorites in the kitchen alongside my custom Japanese knives. highlighted.
