I originally bought this dock for my brand new M1 Macbook Air. I ended up returning the laptop in exchange for the Intel version, having broken my own rule of never buying the first device in a new line of technology (always buy the 2nd gen and beyond - but that's another one Story). The docking station worked great for what I needed. Since for some reason the M1 only supports 1 monitor, I used it in conjunction with DisplayLink to use my two external monitors. native external monitors without replication. However, I still found a use for it as it's a great way to control the rest of the components - sound, keyboard, mouse and extra USB ports. If there weren't one complaint (which admittedly isn't such a big complaint as the hub works as it should), I'd give this thing 5 stars. It's solid and reliable (so far). I would definitely recommend it.
