I plugged it in but it took a few tries, probably more my problem than the socket problem. The included instructions are a small booklet with very small text, there are 2 apps on Google Play with the same store name so I guessed by the image on the QR code which corresponds to one of the app icons. The first 2 attempts to add a socket to the application were unsuccessful. It is very important to choose the right WiFi type. My phone defaults to 5G WIFI and cannot be used with this outlet. When I found that I had to change the WiFi type during setup, everything went smoothly. The phone app seems easy to use and I can hear the outlet turning on and off when I flick the switch on the app. As a result, it takes up 3 slots on my power strip.
