They still work despite having been stored for a while. I tested them recently and they produce temperatures you would expect. I didn't use high voltage as described, just max 9V and they start working right away. About 3 seconds and maintained. One side gets hot and the other gets cold, and if you swap the wires like I did, the sides generating the temperature are swapped, so no damage I hope. the temperature is quite warm, maybe 70Β° and the cold drops to 45Β°, maybe I wasn't sure what to measure but I kept it in my hand. Good stuff, lots of features here, I'll need more of those later.
