With a long edge, you won't get into small areas like around buttons. Instead, take 100 grit sandpaper and tear it into 1 inch strips for your smaller pills. This gives you better control and you only rip off small streaks as the sandpaper wears down (you only scrape off small grit). Even easier to remove the lint from the sandpaper. (I was able to remove the pilling from the entire flannel shirt with this method) For your big fluffy balls, get some very good quality fabric scissors (leave them for fabric only - the paper will dull them). Carefully trim the edge of the fabric and "cut" off the villi. (I was able to remove pilling from all carpets with this method)
