Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Brightech LightView PRO: The Ultimate LED Magnifying Glass Desk Lamp for Precise Close Work, Puzzle-solving, Crafts, and Reading - Superior Comfort and Brightness - Black by Curtis Castillo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great magnifying light at a surprisingly low price - IF you want a 5 point lens

After years of living with a flimsy, clumsy magnifying glass Now I'm surprised I didn't buy one got one of these so long ago. The prices are indeed quite reasonable compared to what was available 510 years ago. First, the lamp has an elegant look with a thin bezel that doesn't catch the eye. More importantly, it's easy to adjust and *stays* right where you put it - doesn't bounce, doesn't crawl, just works. Unlike the more expensive Aven units we have at work, they have a screw head on each joint that can be adjusted to tighten them up if they come loose (which all Avens did in short order). The LEDs give off a nice bright white light. Light (603 cd/m^2 @ 8 inches with a color temperature of 6080K according to my i1Display Pro colorimeter) through a diffuser lens that softens the light and eliminates annoying glare from the LED elements (unlike some other LED lights here) . The result is a very efficient, even illumination of the work area. The lens is clear with no noticeable flaws or distortions. This is a 5 diopter lens, meaning it will focus about 8 inches from the workpiece - suitable for precision work like soldering surface mount components. or inspection of very small details. For large-scale work, lenses with a refractive power of 3 diopters are preferable. The 5 inch diameter is a good compromise for a decent field of view while still allowing access for soldering etc. Fisheye to the periphery. I went to my old one and compared it and concluded that the old one *wasn't* 5 diopters as I recalled, but probably 3. I also realized that it was easy to remove the lens, on this one from their lens was replaced with a salvaged one. It's not as dense but much nicer for general work. I can quickly switch a 5D lens when high magnification is needed. Unfortunately, Brightech doesn't seem to make a 3 diopter version, which is likely to be a better fit for most people.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Nothing here
