Good machine, cheap but you get what you pay for. The hot wire indicator works well, but the first time I used it, I attached a plastic-coated tip to the ceiling fan cord during installation. Well, the plastic cap has come off the end of the pen and won't put it back on. Luckily it still works with the metal clip exposed, but I wouldn't use it now to test live outlets without an insulated tip.
