and he can't believe his luck flipping through the blue book

I'm buying my husband an expensive tool or cleaning his car but he hardly notices. I buy him a $9 Speed Square and he can hardly contain his happiness as he flips through the blue book. I do not know. I just do not know. But he loves it. Says it seems so sturdy and that blue book alone would be worth buying.

Swanson Tool S0101 7 inch Speed Square

the workmanship is not really good. "made in USA" 1) the metal is not smooth 2) the lettering is not defined, they can do better. 3) For 1€ more I could have bought better which is why I gave 3 stars here.

Heirloom Made in the USA

Wow, that's a nice tool. It replaced the plastic speed square. No matter how careful you are, sooner or later they break (see photo). It's just a waste of resources. This is 3/16 aluminum with a rare sense of quality - an exceptional case that has somehow remained untouched by corporate bean counters. The squareness is excellent for framing. If you work on a machine, get the right tool.

The guide does not end flush.

As this was Revain's choice I was expecting a lot. I used this speed square to mark perpendicular lines on a piece of MDF. I used the edge guide to trace the lines. After comparing several lines I thought that they couldn't be perpendicular or even parallel to each other. I used the speed square to test them and found the protruding welds in the speed square connection causing the speed square to wobble which should have broken both the perpendicularity and parallelism of the marked lines…

This square is square

I thought it was a casting so I expected the markings to be rougher than if they were lasered. I tested the squareness on myself and it was perfect. I also tested it on very expensive but not very strong squares and it was accurate. I read a complaint that the weld was left with burrs that needed to be filed off. Mine looks like a solid cast with no welding. It's a solid square that I think will hold up to some serious abuse and still be square. I can throw it in the tool box without worry. The

For the first time with rafters and bird's mouth.

Always trying to expand my knowledge of construction and carpentry, I recently decided to include a rafter design (with a bird's mouth) in my window awning project. The Swanson square was perfect for the job and with the help of the book that came with it I was able to learn the "one number" rule which makes assembling rafters a lot easier. I would advise any beginner to do this on a smaller project like a doghouse or a small shed on the roof of a house. I'm not a fan of integers, so I just…

Wrong (straight) tool

I've had these angles for about 2 years. I am not a contractor and take good care of my tools. I used the 6" square more than the 12". I never noticed any problems with this angle until recently when using it to check the alignment of a cabinet hardware bracket. The wide base of the square is not flat. It is warped in length by about 1/16 inch which is significant for this length. I put it on a flat surface and tested it several times. I know it's a frame square, but it made me question the…
