As others have pointed out, the unique flat side of these items is very attractive and useful in tight spaces. I can easily get 4 of these in the fryer. And after cracking an egg into each and seeing the egg white stick to the sides despite pre-fatting with coconut oil, I was pleasantly surprised that simply soaking in the sink resulted in very easy cleanup. And after having this experience, I'm SO grateful I chose these smooth ones over the grooved ones, which sure are harder to clean. Pretty esoteric comment, but I bought 4 ounces because I had a recipe for a specific egg dish that listed the exact size and told me to put 2 eggs in each mold. I doubted they would be big enough for that, and I was right. In fact, the 4-ounce size doesn't seem right to me for anything other than "cooking" 1 egg at a time in a fryer or oven, but they're great for prepping a multi-ingredient recipe or for pretty cooking . Versatile for a variety of creative uses beyond baking.
