, I have been a Tivo subscriber since the company was founded. I've had good luck with the hardware prior to this product. I've had almost every model they made. Sony, Series 1-2, Premier and Roamio. Once I had to replace Premier and my Roamio just died. I am not disappointed with these devices, they performed well since they work in 24x7x365 mode. However, the Edge is extremely expensive and significantly inferior in quality. I bought the Edge in December 2019 and it completely died next March after about 3 months. I had to fight and fight and fight to get Tivio to send me a replacement for free. At the time of purchase, the Edge cost $400. I didn't want to give up without a fight. The OEM warranty was only 90 days and that date was only a few weeks ago. Finally, after a very heated argument with Tivo, they sent me a new device (not refurbished). A few months later the "new" edge I was sent failed just as badly. I suspect that the hard drives used are defective. This is a common problem with mechanical hard drives. I had to call Tivo again and prove the replacement. They refused to send me a new device. After another very difficult dispute and escalation by management, they agreed to ship me the repair for $25 plus shipping. Let's see if reburst units are better. If they continue to install the same hard drives in refurbished units, I assume they will work with Tivo again. If you buy direct from Tivo, they have a special Tivo guarantee that allows you to get a replacement at a significantly lower price. *SO* When shopping at Revain, be sure to purchase Revain's Extended Warranty. This will make life easier. I'm generally a fan of Tivo, but the company isn't the same. The product is not as reliable as it used to be. Tivo has nice features and I can't imagine Cable without them; However, there are still many bugs in the software. As I write this review, the Revain Prime Video app is crashing on the device. sigh. Why am I still using it? Because I've had a Tivo for so long I can't watch cable without it. Buyer Warning. Any die-hard Bolt or Roamio user looking for an upgrade. you know what i'm talking about Right? Not the same company as before.
