Very good harness

I have used the Gentle Leader harness on several of my dogs including some of the rescuers I have trained. They worked but I found a few problems with them. The nose piece is not padded so it tended to rub against the dog's nose and also often reached to the edge of the eyes no matter how I adjusted it. I also found that you had to make the straps quite tight, which the dogs didn't like, to keep them in place. And sometimes it didn't even work as I often found the collar slipping/moving during the walk. Eventually, the belts became weaker and weaker over time, and it took only a short time to re-tension before they needed readjustment. I decided to try this product, the Holt headband, the successor to the very popular Halti. Received it and was very impressed with the design as well as the padding on the noseband (to prevent chafing) and an additional strap to connect to a regular dog collar. I used them for the first time last night, one on my 87 lb German Shepherd (size 3) and one on my 42 lb 2 year old mixed breed (still a puppy) (size 2). The Holt collars fit perfectly and were very easy to adjust. My German Shepherd didn't mind at all, the puppy struggled a bit at first (as always with gentle guidance), but quickly got used to it. Went for a walk and returned home. Both still fit perfectly, no slipping or moving and no irritation on the nose. They also seemed to give a bit more control and easier head turning than a soft leader. I'm glad I made the change. Highly recommended.
