Great for kids who hate utensils
I love both but I like the fork better because it's almost like a spork. My nephew hates using forks and spoons and constantly tries to use his hands, I let my daughters try him with spoon, fork and bam, he liked it. Bought my first set from tjmax and after seeing my nephew use a fork and had no problems I bought two more sets. I'm not sure what age to start, but I have many other spoons. and it's very easy to handle because it's wider so it doesn't slip in your hands. My girl was about 15m and my nephew was 2.5 years old.
