How good is this air pump for the money?

I bought this as a cheap fix for the tank I keep upstairs in the spare room for fresh water storage. For aerating 11 liter aquariums. To be honest I wasn't expecting much for under €20 but I have to say that after a week the pump is working very well. The manufacturer claims it is very quiet and I use two air lines and both air stones suspended from the top and bottom of the tank so the air stones don't touch the bottom of the tank (THIS MAKES A LOUD VIBRATION NOISE). However, when hung, there is almost no noise, just a very faint, low hum, quieter than a desk fan. My only criticism relates to the dial that turns the pump's airflow up and down. Turns very tight, I can't turn mine with one hand and have to hold a block to turn the dial. I'm sure it can be fixed somewhere in production. I place the pump on a small cement block. The pump stands absolutely still, without vibration. I recommend this air pump as a secondary device connected to an incremental timer, say a 15 minute timer. This means that the pump cannot run for a long time. I am not sure if this pump would be suitable for continuous use as I have not tried it for this purpose only as an aeration pump and it would certainly make a great addition to any aquarium where fish can play in their bubbles. when placed under a rock or bog rock in an aquarium.

Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
