If you only have a laptop speaker or you are buying it as a phone speaker, then this is a good buy for you. Don't expect heavy bass. The extra bass function seems doubtful, it is better to make the equalizer settings on the mobile phone or PC/laptop. Some tracks that rely heavily on bass (fairly rare, I'd say you should be fine 95% of the time) will cause the speaker to clip those high frequency bands, making it feel like you're turning on Extra Bass . The function will toggle on and off throughout the track: c. The best solution I have for getting that bass potential out of this speaker is to strategically place it in the "subwoofer position". This is the floor (e.g. under your desk) and usually next to where you are sitting (corners would be nice too). If you just place it on the sides of a monitor on a table you can still get nice thumps but not as deep/soft vibrations as you would get from a floor and/or corner. I found the controls to be pretty standard for any other Bluetooth device, with a few taps and clicks you don't even need to read the XD manual (although I did read the manual to look for features I missed) . As soon as you connect it to your phone, it will show a battery status icon in the system tray, just like most modern headphones. I found the speaker volume very satisfactory (perhaps too loud in a small room :P). Initially, the volume buttons didn't "sync" with the phone controls, so when I tried to turn up the volume, I hit the volume limiter. He started beeping and told me the volume was at maximum even though he wasn't playing very loud. As soon as I used the phone's volume buttons, it actually balanced the volume properly and there was a sweet, sweet sound of an eardrum breaking air vibrations :O. So watch out for that initial "glitch". Was glad to see that you can turn off the light (it has 3 or 6 different colors, keeps flashing; didn't really go into that feature because it annoys me :P). The construction looks solid. Nice soft texture. At medium volume, it gets a little warm at the top. Bluetooth range is decent as long as none of the connected devices are too close to your body (e.g. a phone in your pocket) and between devices (walls are ok, density difference? IDK lol). The calling function is decent enough. You may need to speak a little louder than normal unless you're directly in front of the XD speaker. When the call ends, the music will automatically resume unless you hang up your phone. You can't dial a number using the speaker or use Siri or any other phone assistant. However, if your phone is nearby and the music isn't too loud, "Hey Siri" works fine. It should be so; Although I just received it I'm happy with what I see and hear. hope it lasts
