As a kitchen towel, these towels are very good. They're stiff when you first take them out of the box, which can be a bit confusing. But once they get wet, similar to most other fabrics, they will soften and fray, although they will still be somewhat stiff. The fabric itself becomes much softer. They clean and dry the dishes very well and even prevent water stains from appearing on the glass. That alone makes it worth using. Despite their softness, they are safe to use on glass and other delicate surfaces. The only thing I don't like about them is that they don't dry well. This means that they will still be wet many hours later. They absorb moisture very well, so be sure to rinse and wring them out well when you're done using them. But no matter how well I wring out as much as possible and then lay them out to air dry, when I use them again I find they are still very damp. These are very good rags, but be aware that they take forever to dry.
