A few things that make this back scraper not ideal for itching. The bend in the scraper shaft helps, but it doesn't flex enough to really itch in the middle of the back. The shellac coating on the entire surface of the scraper makes the grip too slippery. You won't be able to hold it if you try to reach far back to scrape deep in the middle of your back, for example. Because the head is small and the grip is slippery, the head tends to roll to the side. If you could get a better grip on part of the handle, you might be able to keep the head from spinning. I like the durable wood material. It can withstand some pressure without bending. The scratch fingers are too small, almost too small. The hand/fingers more or less slide over the spot, but that's also because I can't apply much pressure. Now I need to find something to put on the handle for a better grip. I wouldn't call it a complete loss (nearly) but this cat tree has "room" for improvement.
