Review on 🎧 TechRise USB Audio Adapter: External Stereo Sound Card for Windows, Mac, Linux, PC - Enhance Audio Experience on Laptops and Desktops by Mensur Long

Ordered two, received two different units

First order was mid to late 2020 and I received one in shiny plastic, it works really well and the sound it comes out of is rich and deep. I use it to control the sound balance during a live broadcast. I liked it so much that when I built another streaming rig for my channel partner I ordered another one for him. The sound of the second one, bought in April 2021, is terrible in comparison. It sounds very muffled, the bass sounds washed out, and I think if I saw the spectrogram of the output signal it would look like a frown, not a smile. Basic audio mastering tends to push the mids down and the highs and lows up to create a more dynamic range, as the mids take up a larger portion of the spectrum, often overshadowing the highs and lows. The new sound card seems to have exactly this problem, the mids are so much higher than the bass and treble that everything sounds very strange. It works for OBS monitoring but the first one I bought was so much better that I'm very disappointed with the second one. A few months ago I would have highly recommended it for the price, but now I would recommend going for something with the best components inside. When these companies buy such bulk products, they have no real control over the quality or the components inside, so while they may look like modifications from the outside, the components can vary wildly from batch to batch. If you only want sound, this will work; If you want good sound, you should spend a little more.
