All I needed was a security cable fit for Macbook Pro. It worked! As for the gauge of the cable, as some have commented, I don't think this attribute is important. Security wires are not designed to stop thieves with bolt cutters. They're designed to prevent the "crime of opportunity" - to stop an intern or janitor from stealing your laptop while you're having lunch.
