Didn't work well on knockdown texture.

First of all I would like to say that this stencil is durable. It bled and is holding up well so far. By beating I mean I brushed it out and all the little nicks stayed in place. So there is nothing wrong with the template. Second, I'm not new to stenciling. I've done this several times, as have almost all faux painting methods. We bought this house two years ago and are in the process of completely repainting it. I have a torn texture on the walls. This is great for some faux painting techniques but not great for screen printing. I already knew this because I stenciled the bedroom wall above, but I used foil. I didn't get any sharp lines, but I was fine with them because they looked like faded vintage wallpaper. I decided to make this wall using a stencil and a roller. First I trained on cardboard. Nice. But. Cardstock is a lot smoother than the knockdown texture, so I knew I wouldn't get any sharp lines. So here are the problems I had. My wall had a fresh coat of satin latex paint. I couldn't keep the stencil in place. Nothing will stick. No tape or glue. If I could do a touch up I would use flat paint. I rolled the stencil and also tried hatching. Scoring wasn't any better. My second problem was cleaning. As others have said, the color builds up and is difficult to remove. I started cleaning after every second use. I used goop and acetone. more pain The moral of this for me is don't stencil on the satin latex and don't paint on the knockdown texture. After I'm done with this mess I just use a foil stencil (no mess) or stick with the faux technique.
