I've used it twice already. Therefore, I cannot speak about its long-term quality. However, it looks like a quality product and I expect it to last a long time. I have a black lab and he can carry all his water and food on our hikes. I took it on a 13 mile hike with an elevation of 3700 feet. I had to give him water more often because it was harder for him to carry all the weight. I read that a dog can carry up to 1/3 of its weight. The two comfortable straps that run under his stomach stayed in place. The front one moved a bit but I don't think my dog felt uncomfortable at any point. I put three water bottles and other things on the sides. As the ride continued, I used the water evenly up the sides to keep the bag balanced. I'm very satisfied with this product. Be careful, measure your dog and read the specifications in the size chart. My dog was just between medium and large so I went with the large one. Update: My dog and I did a 16 mile hike with 5800 ft compliance. He perfectly carried eight 12-ounce water bottles. Update: 01.11 The product is out of service. The strap that attaches the saddlebag to the vest where it connects to the bag has come loose. It's not exactly a tear, but the thread holding the strap to the bag has come undone. It was a total of 40 miles over four steep climbs. This appears to be a design flaw that can be prevented. When purchasing, you can reinforce the stitching where the strap meets the stitching in the saddlebag. Considering there's no damage, just a loosened thread, it looks like I could sew it back on. I still like the product a lot and hope it will last a long time after my repair attempt.
