great for hiking or for active dogs to recharge on 'short' walks

I bought this backpack for my Weimaraner puppy (8 months old). After reading online advice on how to help highly active dogs release some of that energy. I weight it down with two half bottles of water on each side so she has to expend more energy on "short" walks when I don't have much time, and I use it on hikes to hold some water and treats. , folding tray, documents, etc.

Pros
  • great for a small home

My dog loves his backpack!

It looks like a good design, the pockets don't dangle when the dog runs. Pretty and well done. The only issue so far is the strap padding slipping, but this was an easy fix by attaching it to the strap with velcro after adjusting the size. My dog took the largest size (he's 120lbs with a 38 chest) and it fits very well with lots of strap adjustments as he gains weight. And he loves his backpack! It is used for night walks.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Expandable

Super comfy for my dog

My 1.4 year old 60lb rescuer chewed the last pack and had no problems with it. We travel with it in the Washington mountains and it offers comfort and freedom of movement thanks to the very soft material that surrounds the lower straps and the neck pillow like a pillow. She runs freely without any problems and is never irritated by straps. I can take the dog by the top handle and he doesn't resist or worry. This is an excellent product. As with most backpacks, it's important to balance the…

Disappointingly good for dogs

The backpack had enough volume and looked stunning on my OEM Mastiff, but it kept rotating around his torso no matter how tight we tightened the straps or how finely we put the load in balancing his baskets . .The idea of padding the shoulder straps sounds great since the last backpack irritated him around the buckles. The padding tubes around the shoulder straps only served to make it impossible to secure or stabilize the 16 pounds of groceries he had to carry. 9 day hike in the Adirondacks…

Not-So-Good Dog Bags

Edit: Having used these a little more (and not used them at all) it doesn't matter how little I have in packages if something is there and it's not 100 % is equal weight on both sides, the heavier side sags terribly. I'm not talking water bottles or anything, I'm talking a bag with poop bags on one side and a pair of rubber gloves on the other. When I used it empty (to get the dog used to carrying backpacks) it worked great. I would keep looking, I heard Ruffwear makes a reliable backpack…

Well made product. in Clothing & Accessories

We purchased this item in the hope that it would slow down our extremely strong and energetic Jack Russell and Beagle mix. We estimate that after more than a month of excessive stress, the product was reduced by about 75%. It also allows her to get enough exercise by taking one long walk a day instead of two. We use 3 pound kettlebells on each side of the pack, for a total of 6 pounds for our 30 pound dog. This is a good size for our dog, but I would recommend getting a larger backpack if your…

Ideal for backpacks

I've used it twice already. Therefore, I cannot speak about its long-term quality. However, it looks like a quality product and I expect it to last a long time. I have a black lab and he can carry all his water and food on our hikes. I took it on a 13 mile hike with an elevation of 3700 feet. I had to give him water more often because it was harder for him to carry all the weight. I read that a dog can carry up to 1/3 of its weight. The two comfortable straps that run under his stomach stayed…
