We purchased this item in the hope that it would slow down our extremely strong and energetic Jack Russell and Beagle mix. We estimate that after more than a month of excessive stress, the product was reduced by about 75%. It also allows her to get enough exercise by taking one long walk a day instead of two. We use 3 pound kettlebells on each side of the pack, for a total of 6 pounds for our 30 pound dog. This is a good size for our dog, but I would recommend getting a larger backpack if your dog is larger. The backpack is well made and durable, with no signs of wear after daily use. The reason I'm only giving it four stars is because the compartments themselves are small, chunky, and triangular. We plan to use a backpack for longer hikes and hoped the dog could carry the water on its own. The backpack holds a 20 ounce water bottle on each side and very little room for anything else.
