HOT pan holders, caution!

I bought the red and white checkered potholders. Set of 4. They looked very nice. I liked the silver side of the potholder thinking that it was good against feeling the heat of a hot pan. Although I did not burn my hands taking a cookie sheet out of a 350 degree oven, I felt the heat enough to quickly put the pan down on the counter top. So now I’m wary of using those pads to lift anything hot. Sure wished they worked for me, but they didn’t.
