Review on ClickSafe Keyed Laptop πŸ”’ Lock for Business by Kensington K64637WW by David Moreno

Celebration. very easy to use. good choice.

I chose this model after extensive research. While I'd prefer a combination lock for ease of use, I've read that due to machining tolerances (in any combination lock design) some people can feel a change in tension in the wheels as they get closer to the correct number. Also, another Kensington combo lock reviewer on Amazon (not sure which model) stated that setting the combo lock incorrectly prevents the combo version of the lock from opening (I don't know if that's true, check those Combo version reviews here on Amazon - someone is talking about the issue and calling Kensington). the spiral cable versions were too thin for me. Using a key seems to be the safest way to use this type of lock. (I've also read security websites that say round keys aren't as secure as flat keys, so these flat keys are a good choice.) As for the lock itself. Perfect! Low profile, sleek design, VERY easy, just "click" on the small tab I installed earlier in the Kensington lock slot. Really great design how the cable is securely attached to the lock and can pivot around the lock allowing it to be pointed in many different directions and not putting too much stress on the lock or laptop. The head of the lock "snaps" onto a small pin. you need to attach to the Kensington slot during initial setup. Then this little pin stays in the hole and you just push the lock to lock your laptop and then put the key in the hole in the lock head and turn and the lock opens to remove it. The small tab that is left in the laptop lock slot is the one you assemble ahead of time, and the actual locking head just snaps in and out. The small solid protrusion that the detachable lock head snaps onto is round and has two raised cylinders that the lock grips (I don't describe it very well but it seems very secure and doesn't protrude much from the laptop at all, if the lock isn't on it (maybe 1/4 inch, and it's smooth and round, and I really don't find it ugly or a problem at all.) Actual daily use of the lock is very quick: push and push, don't try to put it in a laptop's small plastic lock hole and make sure it's tight.I've read reviews that some of the locks in a laptop are loose or not secure and this setup fixes that problem somewhat that's permanently in the Kensington slot is awesome (yes it's detachable but not when it has a lock and you only install it once and then you can lock it so perfectly and firmly m as you wish). to whom complained about it. that makes a lot of sense to me. otherwise you would have to fiddle with it every time you wanted to fit a lock and i could see how you can't always line it up or tighten it and it starts to wear out the groove (metal is harder than plastic so over time the metal rod wears out). on the plastic slot of the lock). Also, it would just mean hassle and time for picking and locking the lock, so after a while I could see mine tucked away in a drawer somewhere. Slot. Then take the small Allen key that you were given, insert it into the appropriate hole at the top of the ledge and turn it clockwise. This Allen wrench rotates the small T-bar in the slot 90 degrees so that it is now perpendicular to the small slot and cannot come out. He also inserts a second small piece of metal into the slot that attaches to the outside of the tab so it holds the tab in the slot, and the inside stays at a 90Β° angle to the slot, holding it securely (inner and outer rod 90 to each other so it grabs the inside of the lock and holds it perpendicular to the orientation of the slot.My inner geek just thinks it's really cool and well made.I guess people who had trouble inserting the key didn't get it Idea that the little flat bar on top eventually sits in the mounting hole and locks it in. So tighten that suction cup with an allen wrench!I like the thickness of this cable (5mm thick) Looking for a lockable kensington cable for a 10mm thick ultrabook cable this was my other choice I thought it would look too big but looking at the 5mm cable it doesn't look flashy so I probably would I am also happy with the 10mm cable. I think that gives you about 6 feet, which seems like a good length for a table leg. It also comes with a cord wrap to keep it folded when not on the laptop. I like it. It's clearly reusable and I appreciate that - it's easy to store away. Get a quick replacement if you lose one. Of course, you don't have to worry about people trying to pick the lock in hopes of getting it or feeling like a challenge. Okay, that was quite a long review - like I said, I did a lot of research before making this choice and invisibility. I got a bit confused on some of these questions before actually picking up the lock in my hot little hand. But after doing that, I feel good that I made a really good choice, which is why I'm writing this to help other people sort out issues before they buy.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
